$18.1M to let any software engineer apply quantum computing

Horizon Quantum Computing

Here's Horizon Quantum ComputingThis Singapore-based startup is taking quantum computing to new horizons faster than ever, so they've just raised an $18.1M Series A.

  • They make it possible for software engineers to use quantum computing — without needing years of experience in quantum algorithms.

Investor check. Sequoia Capital India, Tencent, SGInnovate, Pappas Capital and Expeditions Fund joined in!

  • They've now raised a total of about $21.3M.

🔠 The ABCs on Quantum Computing

Quantum computing uses special quantum computers that can process massive amounts of data and solve problems impossible for regular computers.

  • It can make decisions and predictions with better, more efficient and faster results.

Ok, so what? It can speed up training for ML models, develop new algorithms in fields like AI and even create new scientific and medical breakthroughs.

  • It can even be applied in facial recognition, fraud detection and object recognition.

🔓 Unlocking the quantum world

Their tech allows software engineers to write regular code and compiles (aka, translates) it to let it run on quantum computers.

  • Now, software engineers can use and apply quantum computing without needing quantum expertise!

Want the nerdy details? It first separates, analyzes and simplifies the code. After that, it replaces the right sections with quantum-friendly functions. Lastly, it translates it into building blocks of quantum algorithms to process it into a quantum program!

🧠 The impact

Progress in quantum computing hasn't been fast enough, even if it has tons of practical applications. Here's why:

  • Only a few people have the years of experience needed to develop quantum algorithms and protocols.
  • The space is super early. There aren't a lot of tools, and few are sophisticated enough!

🌍 Europe, you're next!

They'll grow their science and engineering teams to speed up product development! They'll also set up their new engineering center in Europe and bring their tech to the market.
