They’re going global! Here’s EDGE Tutor International, a Philippines-based online tutorial startup that enables companies to hire remote ESL English and Math tutors for K-12 students. Now, they just raised their $1M Pre-Series A!

  • Scoop: EDGE Tutor is a spin-off from Edukasyon.ph, a local online education platform that connects students to education opportunities.

Investor check. The round was led by Seaborne Capital, M Venture Partners, Kaya Founders, Orvel Ventures, IdeaSpace, Lorinet Foundation, and other prominent angel investors.

  • EDGE Tutor raised an $800K seed round in 2023.

🧑‍🏫 What’s your EDGE (Tutor)?

EDGE Tutor lets global education companies hire skilled tutors on-demand with their white-label service.

Their end-to-end service includes recruitment, onboarding, and management. Yes, they even handle payroll, taxes, and compliance!

  • Flexible payment plans. Companies can choose to pay per class or per teacher depending on their needs.

Get the numbers. Launched in 2023, the firm has delivered 800K lessons and is on track to bypass a million in early 2025. Oh, and they already work with partners in 30 countries.

🍎 Empowering local teachers

EDGE Tutor offers above-market rates for their English and Math tutors. Plus, they also provide training and upskilling for their teaching staff.

🌏 Going global

EDGE Tutor will use the $$$ to expand further into North America, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.

  • Oh, and they also plan to scale their tutor capacity from 1K to 5K by 2026.
  • They’ll also invest in AI-driven automation for teacher training, quality control, curriculum development, and lesson delivery.
