Not everyone can use Netflix or Disney+! Here's Migo. This startup lets millions of Indonesians watch movies, TV series and more — even if they can't afford WiFi or spend on tons of GB per day! Now, they've just raised $20M in the first close of their Series C.
Investor check. So far, the round has been led by local media conglomerate MNC Group, and a second close will be coming soon.
🤨 Why it matters
The mass market can only afford a few GB of WiFi regularly — unlike most of us with practically unlimited WiFi at home. Yes, they can't watch Netflix, Youtube and other streaming sites if they want to binge shows and movies.
But more importantly? Having limited to no WiFi access means they can't even access online educational videos and resources and other digital products and services too.
📲 How to go on Migo
Just download the Migo app and buy a Migo pass to get access. Then, you'll be all set. Just head to a Migo partner nearby and quickly download as much content you want over their WiFi/data — and start watching.
✅ Made possible by
The tech? Their tech allows tons of digital content to be downloaded quickly, at a low cost and with minimal noise on the internet network.
The content? While Migo doesn't have all the movies and shows, they have most of what their customers need or want to watch.
The strategy? They leverage agent networks of power users or micro-influencers in the neighborhood who are paid commissions for recruiting and onboarding new customers.

They'll be expanding their coverage to half of Indonesia's population, entering new markets outside Indonesia and improving their tech.
Oh, and they'll be growing their content library with MVN's content too!
