$40M to take on SEA's beauty scene

Nice to meet you! Southeast Asian beauty brand Y.O.U raised a $40M Series C. They sell makeup and skincare in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and more.

  • They have almost 40,000 sales points across their markets.

Who cashed in? The round was led by Hidden Hill Capital. SIG, Gaorong Capital, ATM Capital, eWTP Arabia Capital and M31 Capital also joined in.

  • They have raised $70M since Y.O.U was founded in 2018.

Y.O.U first launched in Indonesia with makeup products, then later expanded to skincare. They're focused on building a mass-market brand with products designed to help solve the modern woman's skincare problems inside-out.

  • They create localized products, like those fit for Indonesian skin.
  • They also have skincare-infused makeup and skincare targeted to concerns like aging and acne.

Their products are sold offline and online, including franchises, convenience stores, supermarkets, major e-commerce platforms and their own website.

Why it matters. SEA is a growing beauty market, and more people in the region are looking for higher-quality brands.

  • According to Y.O.U, barriers to entry are higher for foreign brands, especially in Indonesia, which calls for local brands with the skill to expand.
