Cell-based meat startup Meatable raises from Betagro Ventures

December 6, 2024

It’s all about the good stuff. Here’s Meatable, a Dutch startup that creates sustainable, real meat without harming animals.

Now, they’ve just raised strategic funding from Thailand’s Betagro Ventures!

  • Betagro Ventures is the corporate venture capital arm of Thailand-based integrated food company Betagro.

🥩 The meat of it

They use patented tech called opti-ox™ to produce high-quality pork and beef. They mirror the taste, texture, and nutritional profile of conventionally-produced meat.

  • Opti-ox™ is the only method that grows real muscle and fat cells from PSCs (pluripotent stem cells) at speed and at 100% efficiency.
  • The final product can be produced in as fast as 12-15 days.

This means they can produce real meat without harvesting or harming animals, substantially reducing environmental impact.

✈️ From Europe to Asia

They’ll accelerate their growth and market entry into Asia, especially Southeast Asia.

  • It’s a region where demand for sustainable, scalable food options is rapidly increasing.
  • They’ll be expanding their strategic partnerships throughout the continent.
  • The investment from Betagro Ventures also opens the door to potential co-development projects.
