Dating companies Paktor Group and Lunch Actually announce merger

September 10, 2024

The perfect match? Two Singapore-based dating companies, Lunch Actually and VC-backed Paktor have just announced a merger.

  • Shifting times. Singaporeans are starting to use dating apps less these days and are starting to prefer meeting through offline channels like matchmaking services.

🤔 Who’s Paktor Group?

Founded in 2013, they’re currently owned by Singapore’s Kollective Ventures. They acquired Paktor from Taiwan’s M17 Entertainment in 2020.

  • They previously raised $32.5M in 2016.
  • Their investors include Vertex Ventures,  K2Global, Media Nusantara Citra, YJ Capital, Golden Equator Capital, and more.
  • They have several dating apps like Down, Sweet, and Kickoff.
  • They even have an offline matchmaking agency and an image and date coaching agency.

🍽️ Who’s Lunch Actually?

They’re a company founded in 2004 by a husband-and-wife duo. They pre-screen, pre-match, and pre-arrange one-on-one dates.

  • They’ve arranged over 160k dates and matched over 4.5k married couples.
  • They have an app and offer offline matchmaking and coaching services.

💙 Happily ever after

After the merger, both brands will operate independently. Current customers will benefit from a wider range of online and offline dating services and a larger pool of potential matches!

  • The new holding entity? It’ll be called the  Lunch Actually Paktor Group.
  • They’ll operate across Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.
