From bringing LOLs to bagging $10M

November 26, 2021
Hepmil

This is no laughing matter. Hepmil Media Group, a media network focused on millennials and Gen Z, has just raised a $10M Series A. The round was led by Quest Ventures, Pavilion Capital and Bent Pixels.

  • Hepmil's social media channels reach over 30M people per week.
  • It has offices in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Manila with over 100 employees.

Back to the start

In 2012, Hepmil began with the launch of its SGAG Facebook page in Singapore. After going viral for their funny and relatable memes (like this) with local slang and cultural references, they launched in Malaysia (MGAG) and the Philippines (PGAG).

  • While they're most popular on Facebook, they have hundreds of thousands of Instagram, Youtube and Tiktok fans.

🤪 Beyond the memes

Big brands want in. SGAG, MGAG and PGAG function as content agencies for their target countries. Funny, engaging and hyper-localized, they've captured the hearts (and laughs) of millions.

  • These agencies partner with brands to create branded content.
  • Clients include Shopee, Lazada, Jollibee, ShopBack, Disney, Adidas, Starbucks and Uniqlo.

💰 What's the biz?

Page promotions. Did McDonald's suddenly learn to be funny on their livestream? Hepmil made that happen.

  • Advertise through memes, short videos, livestrams, Tiktoks, music videos, parodies, IG stories and more.
  • Choose to post these on SGAG, PGAG or MGAG's social media pages.

In-house talents. Work with their team of in-house creators that work across all categories, from fashion and beauty to fitness and pets.

Hepmil Creators Network. As part of its push to "decentralized media" Hepmil partners with SEA's top content creators from Instagram, Tiktok and Youtube to connect them with brands.

E-Sports and gaming. With SEA's e-sports scene growing, Hepmil wants to help SEA's pro gamers earn more $$$ by connecting them with big brands hungry to advertise in the space.

  • It launched this in Indonesia through a partnership with EVOS sports.

✈️ New territories

By next year, Hepmil will be expanding to Vietnam and Thailand. It'll also be doubling down on its expansion to e-sports and gaming.
