Funding Societies raises $25M

December 20, 2024

Fun, fun, funding! Singapore-based SME lending platform Funding Societies has just raised a $25M round!

  • Founded in 2015, they have licensed and registered offices in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
  • They’ve loaned more than $4B to over 100,000 businesses
  • They’ve generated an annualized payment gross transaction value (GTV) of more than $1.4B since expanding into its payments business in 2022.

Investor check. Cool Japan Fund (CJF) is the only investor.

  • CJF is Japan’s sovereign wealth fund, and the fund’s first investment in a Southeast Asian fintech.
  • This takes the total funding they’ve raised to around $250M in equity.

💪🏼 All in one

They’re here to serve all your needs, from short-term financing to supply chain financing.

  • They have term loans, micro-loans, receivable/payable financing, revolver loans, and even asset-backed business loans.
  • These range from $500-$2M.
  • Companies use these for working capital or as bridge loans to scale up.

🇯🇵 Talking about the future

They’ll keep offering financial services to SMEs across their five markets.

  • Oh, and they’ll also invest in AI to digitize and automate the lending application process and grow its payments business.

Japan connection? Through a partnership with CJF, they will offer financial services to back Japanese companies that are already operating businesses, looking to expand their presence in Southeast Asia, or entering new markets in Southeast Asia.
