Ice Breakers

Ice Breakers with Daniel Keki (Senior Manager for Revolut Business, Revolut)

February 7, 2025

Daniel Keki is currently the Senior Manager for Revolut Business at Revolut, leading their expansion in Singapore.

Revolut is one of the world’s leading fintechs, operating in 38 countries, serving 50M customers, and catering to both retail and business users. Revolut launched its retail offering in Singapore in 2019. Last year, they launched their B2B offering,  becoming the first market in Asia with Revolut Business.

👋🏼  How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?

I lead Revolut's Business offering in Singapore, making sure we are working on the right products, and executing our APAC growth strategy.

🧐  What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?

Revolut's commitment to maintaining a high talent bar drives senior members to actively support this mission—I personally conducted over 150 problem-solver interviews in 2024, with only a fraction focused on my own team.

🏆  What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Launching Revolut Business in Singapore has definitely been the most exciting project of my career. Introducing a new product vertical, scaling it from zero to one and seeing the first customers experience the value propositions we have worked so hard to create is truly rewarding.

🔍  What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?

Fintechs have been around for a while, but we have reached a point where traditional banks can no longer ignore us and are eager to get in on the action. We have seen multiple large banks scale back or even exit their retail arms, as they are unable to compete with neobanks.

I am really excited about finding new ways to push this trend forward and gradually enter fields historically reserved for large traditional banks, such as wealth management, mortgages, and treasury functions on a large scale.

💼  What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

Be ready to invest your time and effort, and focus on building depth in your expertise rather than jumping between roles too quickly. Success in fintech requires a commitment to continuous learning and staying the course to truly make an impact.

🗣  What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours?

The gap in financial literacy—it’s improving, but we’re still far from a society where people truly understand money and make informed decisions about their finances.

🎥  What's your favorite movie/TV show?

If we’re talking classics, Friends is unbeatable. In the last couple of years, I've really enjoyed House of Cards.

🍨  What's your go-to ice cream flavor?

Lemon all the way.
