Dennis Ng is the founder and CEO of Mober, a Filipino tech-logistics startup that helps businesses to decarbonize their deliveries.
Launched in 2015, they were initially designed to help SMEs solve their on-demand logistical needs. Eight years later, Mober has become a B2B platform facilitating sustainable delivery for retail giants such as SM Appliance Center, IKEA Philippines, Nestle Philippines, and Nespresso.
👋🏼 How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?
We are a Philippine-based trucking company that aims to shake up the industry and redefine what it means to be a responsible, forward-thinking business. Instead of using traditional diesel trucks, we use electric vehicles in our service.
🧐 What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?
I still drive our electric truck! I take charge of the steering wheel in every pilot delivery test for a newly acquired account as well as whenever there’s no available driver onboard.
🏆 What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
Beyond all the achievements that Mober has so far attained, I think the biggest highlight of my career is when I started and ended my first business in the salt industry. All the experiences that I had at that time have made me tougher.
🔍 What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?
I think it’s the B2B (business-to-business) marketplace. This space is still untapped as many have tried but they still haven’t cracked the market. This might be the space we have to dig deeper into.
💼 What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?
Studying the market carefully is an invaluable piece of advice that can greatly contribute to success when it comes to making informed business decisions. And probably, plan on how to take on Mober!
🗣 What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours?
I’m a nerd on all things tennis and travel!
🎥 What's your favorite movie/TV show?
I loved watching Succession and Billions.
🍨 What's your go-to ice cream flavor?
It’s Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie!
