Ice Breakers with Felix Frenzel (Founding Partner, Kadan Capital)

February 11, 2025

Felix Frenzel is a Founding Partner at Kadan Capital, a Singapore-based early-stage VC firm investing in fintech and AI in Asia and beyond. He was previously an Investment Manager at Antler and a consultant at Bain & Company.

👋🏼  How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?

We invest in high-potential tech startups shortly after they launch. We support founders by bringing them into our partners and advisors, providing strategic advice, and by offering additional capital as they grow to become sector-defining companies.

🧐  What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?

I started investing at 16 when I launched a small investment fund focused on European stocks. Since then, I’ve worked in various roles, eventually finding my way to what I believe is the most exciting job of all, early-stage VC.

🏆  What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Leading our first deal with Kadan Capital has been an intense and remarkably rewarding process. We will be able to share more soon.

🔍  What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?

2025 will bring major innovation. In the space of AI, we’re looking for AI-native companies building in vertical software, cybersecurity and enterprise services.

In fintech, we’re watching companies in cross-border payments and asset-backed lending.

💼  What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

Most importantly: always remember that founders are the real engine of innovation—the role of VCs is to support and provide a stage for them.

Be humble, build your network, and constantly ask for advice. Be ready to speak about founders and trends that excite you.

🗣  What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours?

Longevity. It’s astonishing to realize the potential of the human body and how technology could transform our lifespan.

🎥  What's your favorite movie/TV show?

It’s a tough choice. The first spot goes to ‘House of Cards’, closely followed by ‘Succession’. Both feature great storylines mixed with lots of real-world inspiration.

🍨  What's your go-to ice cream flavor?

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
