👋🏼 How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?
I work at a company where we create special materials that makes things waterproof but still allow them to breathe, and we do it in a way that is more helpful to the environment than the status quo
My job is to plan and figure out the best ways to make and improve these materials, and then help get them to people and companies who need them. I make sure everything we do helps our planet and meets the needs of our customers.
🧐 What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?
90% of my work hours are spent inside a warehouse. My brother and I even live near our factory, and we spend most of my time there—day and night.
It’s a testament to how closely knit we are to our operations and how dedicated we are to our craft.
🏆 What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
Landing our first bulk order with the material we invented with our very own technology.
🔍 What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?
We are on constant watch for trends relevant to the PFAS regulation that can benefit from our Nibertex membrane.
Beyond textiles, we're seeing inquiries come in from businesses in healthcare to construction, underlining an important transition that is occurring in certain key regions around the world.
💼 What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?
Stay focused on your goals and be prepared to put in the work. This industry demands not just innovative thinking but a resilient spirit. Learn as much as you can, always be open to feedback, and remember that every setback is an opportunity to learn and grow stronger.
🗣 What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours?
Any cross section between new materials and sports, and my brother and I can go on for days.
🎥 What's your favorite movie/TV show?
"Dark Waters," directed by Todd Haynes and starring Mark Ruffalo, is a compelling film that sheds light on the significant issue of PFAS contamination, effectively portraying the devastating impact of PFAS chemicals on both individuals and communities. This film will really help you grasp the gravity of a global issue we at Nibertex are trying to combat with our alternative materials.
🍨 What's your go-to ice cream flavor?
Chocolate
