ππΌ How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?
It might be easier to start off by understanding the challenges in the industry. Currently, the abundance of streaming platforms has led to a sense of video consumption fatigue. Our artistic palates have been numbed by the overwhelming array of choices at our disposal, leaving many of us weary from repetitive narratives.
As the CEO and founder of Viddsee, my passion lies in discovering new ways to bring authentic and impactful stories to the forefront. Our platform accomplishes this by blending technology, creativity, and strategic thinking to revolutionize film storytelling. Our approach spans from identifying up-and-coming filmmakers to utilizing innovative platforms for distributing their work worldwide.
β
π§ What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?
Though I am now deeply embedded in the creative industry, my journey actually began in engineering! My transition from engineering to filmmaking wasn't a career shiftβit stemmed from a desire for better discoverability and distribution that married my passions for building and storytelling, ultimately leading to the creation of Viddsee. This unique blend of analytical and creative thinking fuels our platform's approach to storytelling and technology.

π What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
I recall the moment when one of our short films, "Gift," produced in Singapore, achieved global virality, amassing hundreds of millions of views. A grandmother from Europe reached out to tell us how the film had moved her.
It was then that I realized we were on to something significant. The explosive popularity of a Viddsee short film, coupled with achieving profitability, highlights the impact of our mission: to empower storytellers worldwide.
These achievements not only validate our business model but also motivate us to continue pushing the boundaries. They demonstrate that well-told stories have the universal power to connect and resonate.

π What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?β
Generative AI has captured my attention for its potential to transform storytelling and content creation. By keeping an eye on advancements, such as Sora, I foresee a future in which AI not only boosts creativity but also democratizes content production. Essentially, this aims to make quality films more accessible to viewers and transformative for storytellers.

πΌ What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?
The pace of change is rapid, so it's crucial to always be ready to adapt. Embracing a dual mindset that combines the adaptability of a generalist with the expertise of a specialist is essential, especially in the realm of emerging technology.
Stay grounded in the passion that led you to this path while remaining flexible. This balance is what will guide you through the shifting currents as you pursue your goals.
β
βπ£ What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours?
I am passionate about seeing individuals become the best versions of themselves. Listening to people share what matters to them, what drives them, and the unique aspects that define their identity, so they can make their mark on the world, is incredibly fulfilling.
This pursuit goes beyond personal satisfactionβit's about creating a significant impact, building connections, and making a positive contribution to society. This philosophy not only shapes my own life but also forms the core mission of Viddsee.
