Menka Sajnani is Partner, Investor Relations at Jungle Ventures. Jungle Ventures is a VC focused on India and SEA. The firm manages over $1B dollars in assets under management, and has a team of forty-five investment professionals across four offices in Southeast Asia. Before this, Sajnani was the SVP at HQ Capital Private Equity.
👋🏼 How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?
I raise money from investors so we can invest in great companies. Our goal is to generate returns for our investors.
🧐 What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?
Many people think fundraising is just about jet-setting and networking. That's only a small slice of the pie. Behind the scenes, it's a lot of hard work, strategy, and data analysis. It's not as glamorous as it sounds!
🏆 What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
Biggest highlight was making the decision to switch careers and my transition into fundraising. I love it.
🔍 What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?
I'm obsessed with AI and its ability to empower everyday people to create and achieve more efficiently in their daily lives.
💼 What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?
Please don't ask for favors if you don't know someone well enough. Wait a year. Cultivate and invest in the relationship!
