Rajnish Sharma is the co-founder and CEO of Wareflex, Vietnam's first on-demand warehousing platform providing flexible warehouses on a pay-per-use basis. We are a seed-stage logistic tech startup hiring actively for multiple roles based in Vietnam.
👋🏼 How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?
My co-founder Rod and I are assembling a top-notch team of technology and logistics specialists that aim to revolutionize how businesses store their products and manage their supply chains by creating a demand-driven warehousing platform in Vietnam. With Wareflex, companies can expect reduced expenses and more efficient utilization of industrial space, transforming the storage and logistics industry.
Besides being the CEO of an early-stage logistics technology startup, I am responsible for leading the company and overseeing all aspects of its operations. Like any other CEO, I am setting the vision and direction for the company, developing and implementing strategies to achieve the company's goals, and am responsible for securing funding, building partnerships, and attracting top talent.
🧐 What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?
I have been a vegetarian since childhood, which often surprises people, especially in Southeast Asia. Despite often appearing serious, I have a humorous side that not many are aware of.
🏆 What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
In the past, I have successfully navigated through complex challenges and achieved significant victories. Although the list of accomplishments and lessons learned is lengthy, I'd like to share one particular experience that showcases my utilization of 'game theory.' At my previous job, my team and I faced persistent quality issues with suppliers, despite implementing the best standard operating procedures and increasing supervision. Instead of simply ramping up oversight, I took a step back. I analyzed the incentives that the suppliers had for supplying subpar products. By offering the same price for all grades, I removed the incentive and incurred only a minor cost, but ultimately resulted in no penalties and strengthened relationships with our end users.
🔍 What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?
As organizations become more data-driven, they recognize the potential of AI to help them unlock new insights, automate manual processes, and make better decisions. This has created a growing demand for AI solutions, which has fueled the growth of AI startups.
Because AI startups are driven by the growing demand for AI solutions, advances in AI technology, investment opportunities, and cost-effectiveness, these factors make AI startups an attractive option for organizations looking to harness the power of AI to drive growth and innovation. AI startups often have a lower cost structure than established companies, which allows them to offer their solutions at a lower cost. This makes their solutions more accessible to a wider range of organizations and can help drive adoption.
Besides, I am noticing another trend in the logistic tech space toward a heightened desire for flexibility in the supply chain. Many startups are rising to the challenge. Companies such as Wareflex are making great strides in this area, delivering innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of businesses.
💼 What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?
Stay Away! Hahaha
Jokes aside, it's a very complex sector with multiple moving parts simultaneously. Despite the extraordinary challenges, it is rewarding in the end. Target the right customer group and their associated repetitive, growing problem, build any solution around it, and keep evolving until you create substantial value for them.
🗣 What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours?
Politics and Economy. These have relevance to our daily lives, affecting the standard of living and job prospects, and I have a genuine passion for these subjects.
🎥 What's your favorite movie/TV show?
Quite a few, but Forrest Gump is above all.
🍨 What's your go-to ice cream flavor?
Rum & Raisin
