Sandesh Shetty is the Co-founder & COO of Explico, an Assessment based learning platform that uses AI and Machine Learning.

They are a pre-series stage startup focused on SEA and Africa, helping make learning more measurable. 

👋🏼 How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?

As a Co-founder, I am responsible majorly for the company's finance, operations, and business development. But one major task is to expand and scale Explico into different regions while building a great team.

🧐 What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?

I drive energy from problem-solving and challenges, have patience, and am mostly not shaken by downfalls.

🏆 What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Had a great corporate career in India for 12 years, then got into entrepreneurship which failed massively, I moved into corporate back, and then again, within a couple of years, started a startup in Singapore. 

This was unknown territory, but my determination and constant efforts brought this company into a pre-series stage in 3 years and created a brand along with strong ties to the community. 

🔍 What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?‍

Education has been part of my professional experience for over 20 years now, along with the belief that a large section of the learning population still doesn't have basic education. Edtech can solve the major problem of bringing education into a single platform that can be affordable and accessible.

💼 What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry? 

Have patience and determination for a good period of time. Don't blame anyone for failure, and don't give credit to anyone for success.
