Ice Breakers with Warren Tseng

March 11, 2022

Warren Tseng is the COO of RPG Commerce, a D2C brand builder. Before RPG, he was APAC Regional General Manager of CloudKitchens and General Manager of Uber in Singapore and Malaysia.

👋🏼  How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?

RPG Commerce builds and operates a portfolio of global direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands and partners with D2C entrepreneurs looking to accelerate the growth of their own brands.

If you are a D2C entrepreneur looking for help expanding to new markets or supercharging growth - let us know!

🧐  What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?

As a manager, I spend much more time asking questions and listening than talking.

🏆  What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Building Uber in Asia alongside some of the brightest and most ambitious people I've ever worked with. It's inspiring to see so many of my ex-colleagues continue to do amazing things.

🔍  What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?

I'm excited about the growth of D2C businesses in SEA and their potential to reach consumers in all parts of the globe. There's never been a more exciting time to join this industry in SEA and impact consumer behavior on the other side of the world.

💼  What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

If you're offered a seat on a rocket ship, just get on and don't ask which seat.

🗣  What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours?

Sports, fitness and nutrition-related topics. Health is wealth!

🎥  What's your favorite movie/TV show?

Succession.

🍨  What's your go-to ice cream flavor?

Pistachio!
