Want to fly to Indonesia sans a visa permit? You finally can–if you’ve got a lot of money to spend or if you’re Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.
❤️ Red carpet
Going gaga for AI? So is Indonesia.
They recently announced that they would issue golden visas for foreign investors to develop their early AI ecosystem.
For individual investors (or founders). You need to set up a company worth $2.5M in exchange for a 5-year stay. Invest double the amount, and you can enjoy a 10-year visa!
For corporate investors (or firm directors). They need to invest $25M to get a 5-year visa, and $50M to guarantee a 10 year visa.
Don’t want to set up a business? You need to have $350K to $700K in funds that you can pledge to Indonesian government bonds.

According to Silmy Karim, director-general of immigration, Altman was granted a 10-year visa for his reputation, as well as his potential to drive the development of AI in the country.
"Once the holders of Golden Visa arrive in Indonesia, they no longer need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the immigration office," said Karim.
Oh, and BTW. Altman visited Indonesia earlier this year. (We don’t know if this affected him getting a permit though). What we know for sure: he doesn’t need endure long queue in immigration anymore!
