Say hello to Kopital Ventures! It’s a sector-agnostic venture capital firm founded by James Prananto, the co-founder of Kenangan Brands, and Fandy Cendrajaya. And they just raised their $12M maiden fund for early-stage companies.

  • Launched in partnership with Farquhar VC, they’ll use the $$$ to invest in 30 to 40 companies within the next 3 years.

Investor check. Saison Capital, Trihill Capital, Impack Ventures, and Alto Partners Multi-Family Office joined as strategic LPs.

  • Angel investor Christian Sutardi also joined in as a Venture Partner.

⚡ Humble beginnings?

Imagine this… it’s 2021, and funding for tech startups is hard to come by. When the going gets tough, how do you support your fellow entrepreneurs? For Prananto and Cendrajay, the answer was easy, they wanted to fund startups and help them weather the funding winter.

  • Before Kopital Ventures, they invested in companies like Eratani, Fishlog, Proglix (and more!) as angel investors.

“Kopital Ventures originally started as an informal group of angel investors called the Kopital Network,” explained Prananto.

💡 Their goal

Early-stage startups need more than just funding though, they also benefit from having a strong network of experts in the community—and Kopital Ventures helps them do that.

  • According to Cendrajaya, the firm won’t just grant $$$ but also “connect founders with mentors who are leaders in their respective fields and [help them] access to global and regional investors for later-stage funding.”
