June 7, 2022
Mangkokku

Hungry? Meet Mangkokku! This Indonesian culinary startup is here to bring professional chef-level (yet affordable) meals to you, me and everyone else! Oh, and they've just raised a $7M Series A. 😋

  • Founded in 2019, they now have 50 branches and serve over 4M rise bowls a year.
  • Their sales shot up 6x since their $2M seed in 2020.

Who cashed in? Alpha JWC and Emtek co-led the round. Cakra Ventures also joined in.

🇮🇩🍴 Digging in

Mangkokku's all about local Indonesian cuisine. They keep that local taste while giving it their own modern and creative twist. Oh, and of course, they use high-quality ingredients and top chef-level recipes — but it's always easy on the wallet.

The recipe for success? They started out with rice bowls and currently run a mix of cloud kitchens and physical restaurants.

  • They have launched over a dozen seasonal collaborations with celebrity chefs and brands, including MasterChef Indonesia judges and Garena's Free Fire game.

🍚 Rice bowls were just the beginning!

What's next? First up is a mobile app set to launch in Q3 this year. Next, they're looking to expand to more products like beverages and packaged sambal chili sauce.

  • Apart from these, they're also looking to launch dine-in exclusive dishes and hit 100 outlets this year.
