❌ Bye bye PFAS

‍Better known as “forever chemicals”, PFAS or Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are tricky because of their persistent presence and negative impact on the environment.

• PFAS chemicals are used in many industries but can also be found in textiles because of their durability and ability to repel oil, water, alcohol, and dirt.
• Buuut…that’s not the whole story.

Why going PFAS-free is important. Some studies have linked liver damage, thyroid disease, cancer, and decreased fertility as potential health risks because of PFAS exposure.

• Spreading PFAS. Washing PFAS-based textiles in laundry washing machines can release chemicals into the environment. 
• Having breathable and waterproof material that doesn’t have PFAS is a great option for people who want safer and more eco-friendly alternatives.

👕 What’s in store? 

‍They’ll ramp up their production capacity to meet growing demand from the consumer textiles market. Oh, and they’ll also expand research and development for professional textiles and build capacity to meet future demand.

• They’re already getting attention from sectors like firefighter fabrics and professional applications.
• FYI. Nibertex already has two manufacturing plants in the Philippines!
