Football fans, unite! ZujuGP, an online football community platform, has just acquired Tokigames, a gamification startup focused on sports and e-sports.
🧐 Who's Toki?
Tokigames develops and provides platforms for brands to acquire, retain and monetize fans.
⚽️ Baller move
Launched October last year, Zuju's building a "footballverse" for football fans, professionals (like football players and clubs) and brands.
The goal? (no pun intended) Bring the entire football economy online. It promises:
Immersive fan experiences. Watch live games together with a community of fans, buy merchandise, participate in events and engage with football players.
Bringing the football biz online. They're building a hiring platform where clubs, agents and scouts find and develop talent.
Training. There are also plans for a digital football academy for performance training and specialist drills.
🧠 Why football, anyway?
They see Asia as the next frontier of football, with over 60% of the world's population and a growing fanbase — a massive market for European football and products to capture.
😉 Deets on the deal
The entire Tokigames team will be joining ZujuGP under its new digital arm, ZujuDigital, as part of an acqui-hire.
Save the date. Together, they'll build the tech that engages fans, allows commerce in-app and more as ZujuGP prepares to launch its consumer app by the end of the year.
The newsletter that keeps you up-to-date on the top stories on tech and business in Southeast Asia. It's fun, quick and free.
