Qarbotech raises $1.5M to help farmers grow 60% more produce

September 27, 2024

Keep growing with Qarbotech! This Malaysian agritech startup just raised $1.5M to speed up crop growth with their patented solution.

  • Their pilot project with PT Iceh Agro Indonesia that covered 400 hectares of rice fields showed an increase of up to 1 ton per hectare in rice yields, boosting farmer income.

Investor check. 500 Global, Better Bite Ventures, ID Capital, EQT Foundation, and Epic Angels joined in.

🌾 Grow more than ever

We all learned about photosynthesis at school. The funny thing is, on average, plants aren’t that good at the photosynthesis process.

  • On average, they are only using about 1-2% of sunlight efficiently. And it’s even less at times because of changes in the climate.

That’s why instead of focusing on soil and nutrient management (which is what traditional farming methods do), Qarbotech focuses on accelerating the photosynthesis process.

🧑🏻‍🌾 Just a spray

Their solution? Meet their main product, QarboGrow. It’s a photosynthesis enhancer with patented tech that you can apply around once a week to accelerate crop cycles, increase yield by up to 60%, and promote growth.

  • They’ve even seen it increase fruit sweetness and make crops more resilient.
  • It works with fertilizers and other growth boosters.

The nerdy details. It’s thanks to nanotechnology. They developed a biocompatible organic compound that’s similar to chlorophyll, the pigment in photosynthesis.

  • When they apply this compound to leaves, it integrates with the chloroplasts and boosts photosynthesis.

💰 What’s with the $$$?

They’ll ramp up their production to bring their solutions to even more farmers in the region.

  • They’ll scale operations across Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
  • They’re also opening their first manufacturing facility in Malaysia. It’ll produce 100,000 liters of QarboGrow monthly.
