Say bye to private cars: $15M for WeMo's EVs to take on Southeast Asia

WeMo

Make way! WeMo's heading to Southeast Asia. They're all about urban mobility tech (aka, how we get around the city). Oh, and they've just raised a $15M Series A+ round!

  • Since their launch seven years ago, they've got over 1M users.
  • Founded in Taiwan, they already hold a leading position in the Taiwanese market.
  • Revenue's back to pre-pandemic levels with double-digit growth.

Investor check. AppWorks led the round. The Taiwan National Development Fund also joined in!

😎 Not your typical ride

WeMo's tech and services all have one goal! Reduce pollution and carbon emissions.

  • But how? Make people less dependent on private vehicles (yup, make them stop buying cars and bikes) — and instead use shared and rented transportation like WeMo.

Started from the bottom. They're best known for their smart e-scooter rental service that lets you rent e-scooters for up to 24 hours.

💯 The game changers

Last year, they launched WeMo RenTour and WeMo PASS to go beyond just e-scooters!

WeMo RenTour. Rent electric cars, scooters and bicycles.

  • They partnered with EV brands and rental companies to do this!

WeMo PASS. Buy a WeMo PASS subscription, and get up to 20% discounts on each e-scooter trip and three free rides every month.

B2B. They also moved into B2B with their all-in-one "Smart Mobility Center" solution for fleet operators! It lets them manage their fleets and operations through one integrated system — while helping them hit their sustainability goals too!

  • Access historical and real-time data and analytics for them to forecast and improve fleet management.
  • Customized to the operator's region, vehicle type and other needs.

🚀 What's next

The new $$$ is to expand to SEA, focusing on Indonesia and Thailand to support the region's transition to net zero carbon emissions for transportation.

  • They're linking up with governments, investors, businesses and transportation providers throughout the region to offer green transportation and fleet management services!
