Singaporean skincare brand Allies of Skin raises $20M for US growth

April 9, 2024

Watch out, world! Singapore-based skincare brand Allies of Skin just raised $20M and is ready to double down on US expansion.

  • Founded in 2016, they’re sold in 4 continents, 36 countries, and 800+ physical stores across 40 retailers like Sephora, Mecca, and Space NK.
  • They’ve sold eight figures worth of products in the US and are used by global celebrities like Kaia Gerber and Behati Prinsloo.

Investor check. They just raised from US-based Meaningful Partners, and it’s their first round of institutional funding.

  • Founded in 2016, they previously raised funding from angels like Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding.
  • They hit positive EBITA in 2023.

🧴Skin in the game

They’re a premium skincare brand that focuses on clinically proven, science-driven products.

  • While they launched with just three products, they now have a full skincare line with everything from cleansers and mists to oils and serums.
  • Their bestsellers include the Peptides & Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment, the Molecular Silk Amino Hydrating Cleanser, and the Multi Peptides and GF Advanced Lifting Serum.

✨ Great skin is for everyone

They also have a second skincare line called PSA (aka, Purposeful Skincare by Allies) that focuses on easy-to-use, more affordable science-led skincare.

  • This was launched after Allies of Skin launched in Sephora in Malaysia and Thailand, and their founder realized their premium cream (at $120) was ¼ of a local sales associate’s salary.

🌎 Talking about the future

They’ll scale in the US with paid media and influencers and selling both on online and retail channels. Oh, and they’ll also focus on product development and building a US team.
