What's up, doc?

Doctor Anywhere

Don't give up on your side hustle. In August, Doctor Anywhere raised $88M, one of the largest Series C rounds for a healthtech in Southeast Asia. Now, they've just bought Thailand's largest telemedicine startup, Doctor Raksa.

  • It's set to grow Doctor Anywhere's userbase from 1.5M to 2.5M and grow its revenue in Thailand 5x over two years.
  • Doctor Anywhere is active in the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia.

🩺 Doctor's in

Doctor Anywhere was founded in 2017 as a side project to help the elderly who can't leave their homes. It began as an online telehealth platform, but it now runs in-person clinics, home visits, medication deliveries and an in-app marketplace for health products.

  • The startup has over 2,500 medical professionals on its network.
  • Since the pandemic, Doctor Anywhere's revenue increased 3x, and its transactions have gone up 5x.

With COVID-19, it launched an online medical advisory clinic to check symptoms on-demand. It has also released an online module and online consultation services for mental health.

Why isn't it all online? Especially in the medical industry, physical presence is key to building trust. So, it launched home visits and physical clinics.

💰 Health is wealth

Zooming out, healthtech funding in SEA is on a roll. It hit a record $1.1B in funding for the first half of 2021. (It was just $800M in 2020). Plus, with face-to-face options limited, healthtech users have skyrocketed.

  • 75% of funding is early-stage (seed to Series B).
  • While customers love its accessibility and convenience, privacy and security are still key customer concerns.
